About MenuLedger
An independent project built and owned by theqamar, with one purpose: help restaurants understand what their dishes cost today.
From an invoice to the cost of a dish
Supplier prices change. Keeping those prices connected to ingredient quantities and recipe portions is the work MenuLedger is designed to help with.
Upload a supplier invoice, review the extracted lines and package sizes, then confirm the ingredient matches. Confirmed purchases update ingredient costs and the recipes that use them, so you can see when a dish needs attention.
You review the invoice before it changes your costs. MenuLedger keeps the price history behind those figures, so you can trace a change back to its source.
How we write our guides
Our blog explains invoice review, recipe costing and software choices. Worked examples are labeled as examples, with quantities and calculations shown so you can follow the numbers.
For software comparisons, we cite official vendor sources and state when we checked them. Prices and features can change; the check date describes the information available when the article was written.
We distinguish research from hands-on testing and disclose that we build MenuLedger when comparing it with other products. A suggested fit is our assessment of the published information, not a claim that we have tested every tool in a restaurant.
